Less is more, for the Facebook Newsfeed

Facebook has tweaked the Newsfeed again but this time instead of adding features they have removed them. Gone are the thumbs up/down for each newsfeed item and the Newsfeed preferences is also going away. It looks like the new Newsfeeds also much faster than the previous version with regards to updates.

Facebook has adjusted the Newsfeed several times in the last year but the most significant was the addition of the thumbs up/down controls. It was never clear what impact these controls had, especially when the a Newsfeed item combined a user, application and content types. As a result the impact of these controls seemed to lead to more confusion and slowed down the overall Newsfeed update process.

For most Facebook Marketing campaigns its very important to understand the Newsfeed and how mini-feed items will be presented.  Newsfeed optimization has become a critical component for campaign success.
